Description

We will develop a multilingual MOOC specifically geared towards teachers and how they can become involved in data informed School Self Evaluation (SSE). Each partner will also provide feedback and remedial actions for improvement of the MOOC.  DCU will develop and disseminate the MOOC. All partners will provide feedback and provide input. The MOOC will also be translated and subsequently available in each countries native language.

Elements of innovation

This highly innovative output makes use of the newest of digital possibilities to disseminate the developed materials in an interactive way with the predefined audiences. Schools will benefit from this remote access technology to facilitate their data informed and planning activities. The MOOC ensures a high accessibility in all participating countries and avoids long distance travel for training events.

Expected Impact

The MOOC will have a huge impact on the data informed School Self Evaluation (SSE) practices of schools. The nature of the MOOC, being open access, interactive and available in many languages will impact the different participating countries. Moreover, having the MOOC available in Bulgarian, Spanish and Greek implies that the materials can also be used in the partner counties, and having it available in English makes it of high potential for the other EU member education systems.

O4 will be coordinated by DCU and will involve:

The inspectorate of Education of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura

Sofia University

Regional directorate of education of Sterea Ellada

The discussions planned for in this Output will take place at project meetings and in the course of bi-monthly Skype / online meetings. Each partner will be required to bring a local contextual perspective to the creation process.

O4-A1 Preparation of MOOC content to include the toolkit as well as summary findings and Outputs arising from all other outputs.

 DCU will coordinate the development of an Online training course that brings together the findings and experience from the project.  The course is primarily for the purpose of supporting those members of the school community who are involved in the day to day operations of school life (Principals, Teacher and Management bodies).

The course will also support other members of the school community towards the implementation of data informed SSE strategies and how to use the toolkit to create and manage an environment conducive to data informed decision making.

 It will consist of five online modules. Video footage outlining the project experience from the previous outputs will also be included in the course. This will help to guide all members of the community in future data informed SSE implementations and thereby exploiting the results of the project for maximum benefit.

 The MOOC will consist of six modules:

(1) Module 1: Introduction to Evaluation and Planning in Schools;

(2) Module 2: Introduction data informed Evaluation and Planning in Schools;

(3)  Module 3: Understanding data informed evaluation and planning

(4)  Module 4: data informed Evaluation to support improvement in Schools

(5) Module 5: The role of Community members in data informed evaluation and planning

(6) Module 6: Strategies to support data informed evaluation and planning.

 While these online modules are designed to be delivered as self-directed learning an associated training booklet will also be available for school community partners.

 DCU will initially develop storyboard content which will be agreed by partners who will add content to each of the five modules

 DCU will then design and develop the on-line training course following agreement of the core content story boards of each data informed SSE module.

O4-A2 The MOOC will be assessed and consequently differentiated for teacher and Management Body suitability.

 All partners will be involved in the evaluation of each module through a series of ergonomic and differentiated reliability tests and templates designed by the coordinator and in collaboration with parent and student bodies.

O4-A3 Translation of MOOC into all programme country languages (Bulgarian, Spanish, and Greek)

 Each of the partners will translate the MOOC into their own country language (English, Spanish, Bulgarian and Greek) of which, four MOOCS will be created by the Lead organisation (One for each country).

O4-A4 Put MOOC online (Massive Open Online Course), link will be broadcast through social media

The MOOC will be accessible through the project website. Using creative commons licensing, three other formats will be available in order to maximise the sustainability of the MOOC. The project website will also contain downloadable sources files that allows the MOOC to be hosted on other organisations or school members Web Sites or Learning Management Systems (LMS). In the absence of an internet connection the MOOC will also be downloadable to be used on individual computers and / or mobile devices.

 As it is planned to use concrete staff resources in the production of this output, it is important to identify the tasks that will be carried out by administrative staff and managers

-Administrative staff will be required to organise the log in of participants in the platform to use the toolkit.

– Managers will be required to develop (leading organisation) and implement (participating organisations) an output development plan; to develop project assets; to define and sequence actions in each activity of the output; to perform quality assurance of this output; to monitor and control output work and to report performance.
